No trip to China is complete without a visit to the world-famous site of the Terra Cotta Warriors. Tour the most important archaeological sites of Xi'an, which hold thousands of years worth of rich history and artifacts.
You will be transported by air-conditioned coach service from your hotel in the ancient capital of China to the museum at the Terra Cotta archaeological site. This unique attraction is considered by some to be the Eighth Wonder of the World and was all built in ancient China as a mausoleum for one man, Emperor Qin Shihuang. Beginning at the age of 13, he began to have his mausoleum built and filled with thousands of terra cotta soldiers to guard him in the afterlife. Your guide will take you through the museum exhibits, show you the artifacts, and enrich your mind with the incredible history of the Terra Cotta Warriors. You will be absolutely blown away once you see the Terra Cotta Army, which has not yet been fully uncovered and requires ongoing archaeological digs.
Once you have marveled at all the Terra Cotta site has to offer, you will travel in Xi'an to tour another archaeological site, the Banpo site. This ancient village, excavated in 1953, dates back 6,000 years and was a matriarchal community. While you visit the former home of the Banpo, tour the museum and learn about a very different kind of small society in which women comprised the majority of the labor force. There are a plethora of artifacts that give insight into this interesting community.
A Chinese-style lunch will be included at a stop during your tour. The Terra Cotta Warriors day tour is a must-do for any visitors to Xi'an, and by the time you are dropped back off at your hotel, you will completely understand why the Terra Cotta Warriors site is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a favorite destination of many travelers to China.
